Becky and I first met Nicolas Onyango and his wife Esther five years ago on one of our trips to Kenya.

He had recently answered God’s calling to plant a church in one of the slums of Nairobi.

His church (Soldiers of the Cross Outreach) consisted of several married couples. He invited us to conduct a small retreat equipping and encouraging those couples desiring a godly marriage. Subsequently, we have had several other opportunities over the years to minister with the church.

This past year, Nicolas has obediently answered another of God’s calls. He is planting a place of worship, training center and a Bible school where he grew up, in Bungoma, a small village located in the western region of Kenya.

This building project is a collaboration of 30+ leaders and workers from surrounding villages, desiring a central location to worship and be equipped in God’s Word.

We had the privilege of leading them through a two-day leadership and couples retreat over Zoom in April.

We purchased the technical equipment needed and provided all the leaders with Swahili Bibles (only a few actually owned their own).

Included are pictures of the team and project in-progress. The work is very slow due to lack of finances and materials.

They wait and trust in God’s provision and timing, and as materials come (a piece of lumber, a roof sheet, a bag of cement, etc.) the work progresses that far.

We recently asked Nicolas how much it would cost in USD to complete the project so that many could gather to worship.

His reply provided a very specific breakdown of materials still needed and the cost in US Dollars.

52 iron sheets – $520

2 metallic doors – $160

4 metallic windows – $140

4 glass window panes – $50

25 bags of cement – $175

25 bags of sand – $200

Electrical installation – $100

2 latrine pits for men and women  Р$500

Would you prayerfully consider helping us raise the funds to help Nicolas and his team complete this project?

All funds raised will go directly to Nicolas. If more than $1845 is raised the additional money will go towards purchasing more Swahili Bibles for future church attendees.
